Dr. Vik really helped the Zappos Culture in many ways.
Starting off with his Daily Inspirational emails that were sent out to the entire company were a great way to start our day on a positive note. They helped us to "Spin" our thinking towards opportunity, which not only helped us personally, but in our work day as well.
We also have asked him to meet and or work with our teams on many occasions...and it sure helped to get his objective input about the items we wanted to accomplish.
We sure miss him here, and we would recommend the Doc to anyone who would like to take their Company and Culture to the "Next Level".

Dr. Vik is absolutely awesome! He breaks down your dream goals into an attainable action plan which in turn allows those dreams to become reality. The process starts with addressing how to remove the mental blocks we create for ourselves. It is a gift to know him.

"I would like to have other companies aware of the wonders that David did at Zappos and I also wanted to share that I personally have had great experiences working with him. We have worked together on many occasions, and he was the go to person that I trusted to help my team to help take their lives and the department to the "Next Level". He is very motivational and has a sense of understanding employees that I haven't seen replicated. He is also a great speaker and just a really good person. With his new company, The Culture King, I believe he will be a valuable asset to any company that chooses to engage his services". Amanda Nevins - Former Chief Accounting Officer - Zappos.com

" I first met Dr. Vik in January 2005, when he came down and gave zappos a 2 day Motivational workshop. Our company actually had a vote after his presentation, which resulted in an offer to become our Coach.
Since then, his value of helping to create the empowering and inspiring Culture is beyond compare. We have met on countless occasions, all with the focus on taking my personal life and the company to the "Next Level".
He also was a valuable asset in brainstorming our departments strategies to become the market leader, and successfully making and reaching very big goals.
I endorse Dr. Vik to any company that desires to have the best Culture and reach their full Potential".

I've known Coach for about 3 years, since I started working for Zappos. I really didn't understand that much about what a "Life Coach" was, but we had one! At my first one-on-one meeting with him, we talked about goal-setting. Well, there were a lot of things I wanted in life, but they didn't really seem attainable to me. For a very long time, I've had self-esteem issues, for reasons that I won't get into here, and didn't think I could do anything right. He said that we would start with a "small" goal. Probably seems a little silly, but that goal was for me to get my kitchen straightened up and organized. I had 30 days to do it. I knew that in 30 days, the man was gonna ask if I did it, so I got it done! I even got a certificate for it. =) Then, I started working on more long range goals. Perhaps the hardest one of all-- weight loss! I was VERY over-weight, and figured I always would be. Then Zappos allowed at-work Weight Watchers meetings, and even absorbed half of the cost. I joined. And I lost weight!! All along the way, Coach would ask how I was doing and tell me how great I was looking. That helps so much. I guess the point that I'm trying to make, is that no matter what the goal, if you don't believe in yourself, you won't do it. Doc helped me to understand that. I was devastated when he said he was leaving Zappos. What on earth would we do without him!! You know what? We don't do without him. The man is still here. He may have left the company (to pursue his own goals) but he never left us. Now I, also, am no longer at Zappos. Losing my job forced me to give thought to what I wanted to do. Coach always tells us "Spin It And Win It"! That's what I did! I have now started my own Gift Basket business, and I know that if I need any help or advice--or just encouragement, all I have to do is reach out. He will be there. I love this man, and I think everyone who knows him feels the same. I guess I got a little long-winded, but I want to make sure everyone knows how wonderful this man is. I love you, Coach, and want you to know that just as you are here for me, I am here for you. Best of Luck in your new pursuit. Love, Luanne

I have always been interested in companies that not only succeed as an entity--as certainly Zappos.com has--but also succeed in finding, nurturing, and helping its employees reach new levels of productivity and contentment. To me, the two things--enterprises succeeding and its employees succeeding--are completely dependent on one another...
It is easy for senior management to talk about--and even mandate-- a positive, productive work culture; but often those sentiments are meant for annual reports and "mission statements" that soon most of the front-line employees know is nothing more than hot wind...
There is no question that Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh understood that the "mission statements" that weren't embraced by himself and practiced throughout his company at all levels would fail, so these things always require support from the very top.
However, Mr. Hsieh was also smart enough to realize that he needed someone to make sure the great, productive, profitable culture he wanted to create required someone with very special skills to manage that process. That person was David Vik.
I visited Zappos.com many times, just to watch what was in action at their Las Vegas facility; and behind this loose-looking, casually-dressed work force was a team that could recite at any moment exactly what business they did the day before, what business they were doing that day, and what business needed to be done tomorrow...
None of this "our employees are smart enough to understand a balance sheet" type of thinking existed at Zappos.com, and that was all part of the plan.
How did Dr. Vik do what he did? It was easy, and it was hard...
Dr. Vik's strategy of changing behavior in a slow, methodical way speaks to what many companies pretend they are all about--constant improvement.
Bring Dr. Vik into your organization and you will see why Zappos.com was recently purchased by Amazon for nearly 1 billion dollars. If you expect these things to change overnight, and you are not committed to a long-term plan, then you should probably save your and Dr. Vik's valuable time, as you will be like the person who goes on a diet and loses weight for a short time, only to gain it all back and then add more...
"Diets" are generally unhealthy, and so are temporary pep-talks so many "life coaches" want to advocate. Dr. Vik is not one of those cheerleader types, though he does cheer the employees on and help them achieve true change in their lives and their contribution not only to the company they work for, but the community they live in.
Oh, and the extra neat thing about David is this: he's a great guy! David's positive attitude and methods are contagious... Catch it now...

As a VP of Sales at Adidas, leading a team of 20 sales people, I could see the challenges of the economy and the business would call for extra inspiration to overcome obstacles we would be facing. I met Dr. Vik at Zappos, his special brand of encouragement and inspiration to meet challenges was just what I thought my team needed to hear. I asked David to come up to Portland and be a part of our sales meeting. David has a great saying "Spin it to Win it". That was perfect for us, in that we had to really dig deep to overcome increased pricing on top of lack luster sales with a tough economy. We had hats embroidered with Dr. Vik's saying and had fun with his visit and talk with us. Dr. Vik's comments to our team really stayed with us. May times after his visit we would say "how are we going to Spin this to Win it?". Basically how do we, in a very positive, authentic way, show our clients how they will benefit even in difficult times. This kept us focused and encouraged! Thanks Dr. Vik for all you did for us, your karma lives on in our team! My best, Lisa Nevins

Dr. Vik is profoundly important to the overall culture and morale of any business he touches. I know, I was there when he came to Zappos. I struggled in communication with superiors who mistook it for attitude which is probably why I'm no longer with Zappos. I've sat in the Kings chair many a time. Anyhow, from the Kings chair to the friendly smile and a friendly hello while passing him in the hallway, he was beneficial to my overall success. We discussed more than feelings, but how the feelings made you want to react. Truly a learning experience, thank you Dr. Vik.
